New Benefit: Bella Bamba
Benefit’s newest power powder is described as a “watermelon-pink blush laced with shimmering gold undertones.” So what does this mean for your little cheekies? It means that the color, combined with the gorgeous gold flecks, helps amplify and sculpt your cheekbones. As if that weren’t enough, one swipe of this goodness will brighten your complexion in an instant.
Sounds like this powder and an Air-Tan are all I need to trick people into thinking I have actually seen the sun this winter.

Soon-To-Be Air-Tan Addict.
I’ve been spray tanning before, but never air-brushed, which is a spray tan applied by an actual person with skill, not just a machine (Hello, Ross Geller?!). I’d seen the results of a couple friends who had done it before weddings or vacations and whatnot. I admit, it looked very natural, but after hearing about how you have to bare it all (well, 95%), I quickly decided maybe it just wasn’t for me. Note: I’ve never been one of those girls to walk around naked in the locker room, or even topless for that matter. I know many are fine with it, but I’ve always been a bit, well, more reserved in that area.
Needless to say, after running into Angela Alney, owner of Air-Tan in Broad Ripple, I changed my mind. Angela was completely down-to-earth and she explained she knew exactly how I felt – um, totally insecure about getting in the buff in front of a stranger. She also stated they’ve pretty much seen everything. Taking that to mind, I decided, what the heck, I’ll give it a try and tackle my fear…all while getting a nice tan for NYE in the process.
I made my appointment for Monday evening so I could sleep right through the eight hours you have to wait before showering. I arrived to be greeted by Emily, the general manager who Angela assured me would be the perfect person to apply my first tan. Emily, sweet as can be, immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable. She could probably sense my nervousness as I explained how I had just been over-indulging all weekend on holiday food (Me: “Please excuse my bloatedness…I’ve been eating all weekend” Lol.).
At the front desk, I filled out some quick paper work and Emily explained how the process worked. Most people went topless and wore a thong (which I was prepared for, you must wear bottoms – thank God!). She took me back to the room so I could get undressed. I could choose from a tiny makeshift thong or I had option to wear my own. I wore my own after quickly trying on the tiny piece of cloth that was offered as a thong – which looked very similar in size to the surgical-looking face mask that was also provided for my face if I chose. Next, with the flip of a switch, she came back in the room and we began the process in the spray room. I quickly covered by chest with my arms and laughed as she walked in the spray room…it just felt like the natural to do. Ha! Emily was quick to jump in and began her job, explaining each step as she worked and air-brushed me. She was so professional and efficient. She has done this a million times I kept telling myself.
In just a few minutes, after some quick arms raises and turns, she was done. It was over. I could see results right away and literally immediately felt better about myself. I threw on my dark sweatpants and top, took a deep breathe and headed out. I had just conquered a fear and it was well…No. Big. Deal.
I slept in that same clothing that night and woke ready to shower. The tan was not orange at all, in fact, it looked as though I’d been in Florida for a week. I actually felt I’d been on the beach for a week – without the harmful sun exposure and the super uncomfortable sunburn, of coure. It’s day three and I love the color I chose (3 on a 1-5 scale). I have already received many compliments and questions about whether I’ve been on vacation. Even the skeptics (my coffee barista being one) who thought I’d come back looking like an oompa-loompa, greeted me with smiles and oohs and aahs…”Wow! It looks great! Like you just got back from vacation!”…
My new dilemma? I do not want to go back to my winter whiteness. I feel more confident and my skin has such a nice-looking, natural glow.
My name is Kelly. I am a soon-to-be Air-Tan addict.

Not Just Another Pretty Face: Bridget Johnson
This week’s Pretty Face is easily one of the coolest, most stylish gals we’ve met – and one of the most down-to-earth. Please do yourself a favor and check out every one of One Click Ventures’ websites – we are so proud and happy that this fantastic business calls Indiana home! PS – if anyone can pull off sequin hot-pants, it would have to be Bridget.
1. Describe yourself in 140 characters or less:
Director of Audience Development at One Click Ventures. Fashion industry, grammar and interweb nerd with a magnetic connection to all that is social. Most always over-dressed.
2. If we peeked in your handbag, we would find:
Business card holder/makeshift wallet perfect for tiny, night-out bags, iPhone, lash curler, Burt’s Bees cuticle wax tin, SunglassWarehouse.com wayfarers, safety pins, solid perfume, an assortment of rings from my growing-out-of-control collection.
3. What are your top 3 beauty must-haves?
Frizz Ease Hair Serum, Original Formula – I have hair past my waist, so keeping the ends looking healthy can be tricky. Applying a shine serum to dry hair typically does the job. I’ve used Frizz-Ease since middle school.
Kohl eyeliner – In fashion’s clothing versus beauty pendulum, I swing almost solely as a clothes girl, so intricate makeup application is not my strength. At night, I simply apply this liberally (and symmetrically) in a quasi-cat eye shape, smudge and hope it falls into the it’s-supposed-to-appear-this-disheveled zone.
Vaseline – I apply it as a moisturizer for lips, eye edges, cuticles, lashes…the list goes on. I also use the gel at the top of my cheekbones, lids and brow bone for some glow action. I may or may not have learned the latter from Tyra Banks in a season one America’s Next Top Model episode.
4. The trend/look I wish I could pull off is:
Chanel’s Spring 2007 RTW sequin hot pants. I’m game for experimenting with virtually any look, however this one’s execution might stir the general public a little more than usual. I’m considering grabbing Forever 21’s version, adding a pair of opaque tights and taking the plunge anyway.
5. On any given day, you can find me shopping at:
Gilt.com for discount designer boots; Lucydacyd.com for minimalist, beautifully draped everything; Pixiemarket.com for interesting mini shorts and skirts; AffordableScarves.com for circle scarves and knit capes; Asos.com for body con dresses.

Fashionista Fridays: Sonia Kashuk
I may have found my new favorite brand of makeup—Sonia Kashuk. Available at Target this makeup is glamorous and fabulous. I bought an eye shadow palette and some nail polish and love both!
Warning: this post is not for the glitter-phobic because both the eye shadow and nail polish are glitterfied. The eye shadow is basically pure shimmery glitter with a sheer color. I think it’s a perfect way to spice up your makeup for a night out, but I’ve also worn it lightly during the day and didn’t feel too overdone. I have the Showstoppers quad, but the brand also has pretty purples and even eye shadow that isn’t glitter-y.
The nail polish I bought is called Starry Night and is black with small silver glitter in it. The glitter softens the harsh black color and makes it a lot more playful. Even though it is not green or red, I think it is the perfect shade for all those holiday parties coming up. Like Stacy London said on a Today show segment about holiday party outfits: “Shimmer signifies festive!”
The Sonia Kashuk brand also offers high quality makeup brushes, which I can’t wait to get my hands on. The price point for her products is a little more than the average drug store brand, but well worth it.

Fashionista Friday: Boots!
Tis the season for boots galore because there is no better way to keep your toes warm. Instead of just slipping into Uggs everyday, I have two more fashionable recommendations.
The first are motorcycle boots. I bought a pair from DSW way back in August, but I’ve been wearing them a lot more lately due to the snow and frigid temps. These boots are very comfy, very stylish, and go great with skinny jeans. I’ve found that they are my winter alternative to my everyday flats.
The second pair is a recent acquirement. This pair of brown riding boots is also from DSW (clearly my go to place for shoes) and is easily becoming my new favorite pair. I got them on Tuesday and I’ve wanted to wear them everyday since. The only thing I’ll need to be careful of is my outfit selection. Because they are heavily styled to look like actual riding boots, I don’t want to be walking around in leggings and a button-down looking like I’m ready to jump on a horse.
